In the third T20I, Indian Women defeated West Indies Women by seven wickets in the match which took place at the Providence Stadium in Guyana. In the ongoing five-match series between the two sides, India has taken a lead of 3-0.
On Thursday, West Indies women batting first posted their smallest total of 59/9 in their designated 20 overs. Chasing the target, India, led by Jemimah Rodrigues, who scored an unbeaten 40, chased the target in 16.4 overs for the loss of three wickets.
The top-order batsman of West Indies struggled a lot to score during the powerplay overs as two wickets fell.
Hayley Matthews scored 5 runs before giving an easy catch to Anuja Patil off her own bowling. And then Shemaine Campbelle, faced 12 balls to score 5 runs when she was caught plumb in front of the wicket. Stacy-Ann King arrived in the 9th over and scored 7 runs. The West Indies were restricted on 27/3 in ten overs.
Natasha McLean and Chedean Nation then started slowly but steadily rebuilding the hosts’ innings.
After the match resumed, it was a progressive slide for the hosts who in the end could only muster 59/9 from their 20 overs.
Chinelle Henry was the top scorer for West Indies with 11 runs off 18 deliveries. Radha Yadav had figures of 2/6 from four overs while Deepti Sharma took 2 wickets by conceding 12 runs from her spell.
The Indian Women easily achieved the target despite the loss of three wickets. Hayley Matthews accounted for the unstoppable Shafali Verma by getting her stumped for a duck.
After that, Smriti Mandhana joined with Jemimah but Shakera Selman took brilliant catches of Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur off the bowling of Afy Fletcher.
In the end, Jemimah and Deepti Sharma helped India reach the target.
The fourth T20I is scheduled to be played on November 17, and the fifth T20I is scheduled for November 20. Both matches will be played at the Providence Stadium.
