After the disastrous failure at Lord’s, England head coach Chris Silverwood stated that “controlled aggression” inspired the hosts to make an appearance in the Leeds Test versus India. From a 0-1 disadvantage in the five-match series, the Brits overcame by an innings and 76 runs at Headingley to tie the series. Here is Chris Silverwood About IND vs ENG 3rd Test.
Chris Silverwood About IND vs ENG 3rd Test
The Three Lions’ performance in the Lord’s Test was abysmal, as they were knocked out in their 2nd innings in less than 2 sessions on day 5. The British, on the other hand, finished the game in Leeds in just about 3 days after knocking India out for 78 in the 1st innings.
In the 3rd Test, English bowling targeted the right procedure, putting pressure on the Indian tail-end hitters, according to Silverwood. Silverwood and captain Joe Root hurried back to the drawing board just after Lord’s loss to discover the gaps in their defense, and their efforts proved rewarded.
Once Team India get on top its difficult to stop them: Silverwood
“Joe and I reflected on the Lord’s Test and thought about what we could learn and how we could get better. And I think there was controlled aggression around what they did (at Headingley),” Silverwood told in a virtual media interaction.
“The way they hit the lengths hard, the way they put the India tail under pressure and forced them to make decisions all the time. I think you can be aggressive in a very controlled way and I think they got that right,” he stated.
India cannot be allowed to have the advantage, according to Silverwood, considering they are also one of the best cricket teams in the world. “The key is to get on top of them because we know they are a very good team. Once they get on top it’s difficult to stop them”.
“We put them on the backfoot and we kept the pressure on, so you know, it shows what we can do. The guys executed the game plan very well. It shows once you put people on the back foot, the pressure gets and we can get into them,” Silverwood added.
On Thursday, September 2, the 4th and last Test of the series will begin at the Kennington Oval in London. Following Friday, September 10, the 5th and final Test will be held at Old Trafford in Manchester.
