The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 player auction caught everyone’s attention. Teams went over and beyond to acquire few players even if that meant breaking the bank for them. The Australian fast bowlers had a field day as many of them fetched a huge price. Jhye Richardson was bought by Punjab Kings for a whopping INR 14 crores. While the unheralded Riley Meredith was acquired for INR 8 crores again by Punjab. The experienced Nathan Coulter-Nile was bagged for INR 5 crores by Mumbai Indians who even added Adam Milne (INR 3.2 crores) to their setup.
Domestic Indian stars rocked the IPL auction:
Krishnappa Gowtham, the Karnataka off-spinner who is also known for his big-hitting ability was acquired by the Chennai Super Kings. He was bought for INR 9.25 crores. Gowtham broke the record of Krunal Pandya (INR 8.6 crores) by becoming the highest-paid uncapped player ever. Another unknown quantity, Chetan Sakariya walked in with a cool package of INR 1.2 crores as Rajasthan Royals invested in him.

But the biggest surprise of the night came when a certain player called Shahrukh Khan entered the auctions. No sooner was his name announced than 3 teams were vying for him. Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Punjab Kings were in the fray for Khan. Punjab Kings finally managed to win over the bidding and acquired Shahrukh Khan for an astounding INR 5.25 crores.
Tamil Nadu team’s celebration for his success:
The Tamil Nadu were on the road travelling for the Vijay Hazare trophy. The entire team was glued to the mobile to check out the status of auctions. They were closely following Shahrukh Khan’s bidding and were seen dancing and enjoying as the bidding war got intensified. Skipper Dinesh Karthik shared a video on Twitter wherein we manage to see how the entire team is happy for Shahrukh Khan’s success. This video redefines the fact that cricket is a team sport.

The 25-year old cricketer has moulded himself into a hard-hitting bowling all-rounder. He can bowl both off-spin and pace. Khan caught everyone’s attention when he smashed 40 off 19 balls in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He helped Tamil Nadu in their title win. He has been an integral part of the squad this season.

Khan had missed out on an IPL contract which he admitted was a difficult pill to swallow. The journey seems fulfilling and complete now for Shahrukh Khan, or as he may think, it is just the beginning.
