South Africa, in the fourth Test against England, had another tough day in the field. But at the end of the day, there was an inspiring moment as their captain Faf du Plessis fielded awesomely. It lifted their morale a bit on day 4 as they came out to bat.
Faf du Plessis took a one-handed diving catch off Joe Root, the England captain, in Johannesburg in the Wanderers Stadium. Beuran Hendricks bowled a full and wide delivery and Joe Root went with that ball.
The ball touched the edge and flew where Faf had already gone for it with a complete stretch to plucked an absolute screamer. Hendricks took his maiden fifer also.
In the second innings, England went full throttle as the follow-on was not enforced. They set the target of 466 runs for hosts.
Faf du Plessis Takes An Amazing Catch
The charge was led by Faf du Plessis now with the bat as well as his captaincy. The team management’s backing him and Mark Boucher the head coach told that he was still in charge.
“As well from a weight of runs he is under pressure, along with his captaincy, those all stuff,” Boucher said. ” To the dressing room, he backed by players. Towards the end of the day, it was a nice view as he took that catch. Hoping that his spirits will come up with this. To fight with the situation he will return to the ground. He realizes it at the bottom that he is a leader and in every condition he wants to perform good and from the front, he leads. For Faf, around the corner, there is something big, as we hope. As the entire scene has set around him to seems that he will come under pressure and hit a big score for winning a Test match at least he will bring us close to victory.”
Brief scores: England 400 & 248 (Joe Root 58; Beuran Hendricks 5-64) lead South Africa 183 (Quinton de Kock 76; Mark Wood 5-46) by 465 runs.
