After defeating Bangladesh in the two-Test match series, Team India is again moving back to T20I format against West Indies. Team India is all set to play against West Indies in the limited over series at home which is scheduled to take place from December 6. VVS Laxman, the former Indian cricketer, feels that it will be interesting to see how the team management fits KL Rahul into the team as regular captain Virat Kohli is back in the squad after skipping the T20I series against Bangladesh.
Here Laxman Suggests a Change at the Top Order For T20Is
Star Sports expert VVS Laxman talking about KL Rahul in the game plan, said: “The big question is that with Virat Kohli back and K.L Rahul doing a good job batting at number three so then where will he fit? I believe that it’s time that K.L. Rahul opens with Rohit Sharma. I would definitely have K.L Rahul open with Rohit for the West Indies Series.”
K.L. Rahul has scored 52 runs against Bangladesh in the third match of the T20I series. He also has shown great performance in Syed Mushtaq Ali by smashing two fifties in six games.
Notably, Shikhar Dhawan was ruled out of the West Indies T20Is after suffering an injury in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Dhawan is the regular opening partner of Rohit Sharma. Sanju Samson has replaced him but it is unlikely that India will start with considering K.L. Rahul as a part of the original set-up even with Shikhar Dhawan and skipper Kohli in the XI.
Laxman was also very impressed with the way Shreyas Iyer batted in the series against Bangladesh. He feels that the way Shreyas Iyer held the fort in the final game of the series was impressive.
VVS Laxman said, “I was very impressed with the way Shreyas Iyer has batted so far. The best part about Iyer was during the last T20 International in Nagpur when India lost their top 3 batsmen, he had the ability to assess the condition very well and was very versatile in his approach and when KL Rahul was the aggressor he played second fiddle and the moment Rahul got out and Rishabh Pant came to the crease under pressure, and He was not able to rotate the strike, Shreyas Iyer just registered that and changed his gear and that is what you want at a number four.”
