World Cup-winning India captain MS Dhoni was spotted in the Indian dressing room after the home team’s innings and 202-run win over South Africa at the JSCA International Cricket Stadium in Ranchi on Tuesday.
MS Dhoni, in a photograph uploaded by the Board of Control for Cricket In India, was seen talking to left-arm spinner Shahbaz Nadeem who made his debut in Ranchi. Notably, Dhoni has a pavilion named after him at the JSCA Stadium.
India captain Virat Kohli confirmed that MS Dhoni was in the change room after the Test and with a light-hearted jibe at a journalist, even invited him to “come, say hello”.
India wrapped the match in just twelve deliveries on the fourth day of the third Test, with Nadeem claiming the wickets of Theunis de Bruyn and Lungi Ngidi off consecutive deliveries.
India’s head coach Ravi Shastri also tweeted a photo of Dhoni, with the caption: ‘Great to see a true Indian legend in his den after a fantastic series win.’
Painted in Military Green, Dhoni, driving his latest car, halted for a refill at a petrol pump. When the passersby realized it was their favorite cricketer, they immediately surrounded him and started taking selfies. Dhoni didn’t step out of the car but obliged his fans with his selfies from inside.
Recently, it emerged that MS Dhoni was unlikely to take part in the upcoming T20I series against Bangladesh, starting in November. The selection committee, headed by former cricketer MSK Prasad, will convene on October 24 to pick up the T20I and Test squads for the Bangladesh series.
