New Zealand Leading The Series
New Zealand team is leading the series against India and their standard ODI arrangement is also working out well. They brought down team India in the ODIs after India made them clean sweep in the T20I series.
But India skipper Virat Kohli said that this format is not much applicable for this year, mentioning the T20 World Cup which is almost near, and also the interesting fight for World Test championship.
India lost the ODI series after admitting a secure lead of 0-2 following a 22-run defeat in the second match in Auckland on Saturday.
Lessons From The Game
In the after-match presentation, Virat said that these were two quite good games and pretty great for the fans too. He is particularly impressed with the way they finished the game. As in the beginning, they let things pass.
He thinks that Ravindra Jadeja and Navdeep Saini showed great spirit in the game. According to him, international cricket is quite high intensity, but also pretty cool.
Virat also added that this was a game where they have chances to take advantage. But he was not sure that Saini can be as good with the bat. The captain wants his players to solve out situations themselves. And his team will definitely consider changes as they have nothing to lose now.
Competition For Points
The T20 World Cup is going to start from October in Australia and team India is not playing that much ODIs this year. India will compete with South Africa in a three-match ODI series in 2020, after completing the ongoing series against New Zealand.
For the World Test Championship which will be concluded in June 2021, the international teams are competing very hard with each to earn points.
Virat said in spite of the loss, his team got some good experience from the lost series. And now for the third match, they can make changes in the playing XI.
