Saurashtra’s seasoned batsman Sheldon Jackson in a recent interaction revealed that the Indian skipper Virat Kohli was his inspiration in his cricketing career.
The 33-year-old Jackson, who has more than 800 test career, said that he takes Virat Kohli as his role model for his fitness ‘Guru’.
Sheldon Jackson who helped Saurashtra to register their maiden Ranji victory has an average of 50.56. He said the efforts he had put in to improve his fitness in the last twelve months played a key role in achieving this feat for his team.
“It was actually Virat’s story in his every match which inspired me to be behind my fitness before I go for any match,” said Jackson, who was a close witness of Virat’s fitness schedule during their matches RCB in IPL 2013.
By following the same mantra of Virat Kohli for six seasons, Jackson has bagged the ‘Important Batsman’ slot for his team.
“The people who have helped me to develop my six-packs are normal gym trainers. I was a kind of a person who used to eat a lot of junk, but my trainers and my friends around me constantly used to tell me that I should eat well to stay fit and play well. I just blindly followed them and got the results of my efforts” said Jackson.
Sheldon Jackson On Ranji Players Ignored By Selectors:
The BCCI selectors have shown little or no interest in players who have been playing for the Ranji trophy. “I understand we have not won any series over the last 10 years, but we have been consistently reaching the finals, this shows that we doing our best in the game. Due importance should be given to the players playing for the Ranji Trophy, as this the only way one encourages young cricketing talents and helping them to emerge as able cricketers” said Jackson.
