Just hours after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address on the coronavirus epidemic, Shakti couple Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma have done their part by educating their fellow countrymen.
India has done an admirable job in keeping the pandemic outbreak, and officials are taking all possible measures to prevent the epidemic from affecting the country at large.
In the absence of certainty as to when the outbreak will end, taking precautions is the best option. PM Modi urged his fellow Indians to maintain social distance to ensure that the virus does not spread. Both Kohli and Anushka did the same by posting a video clip spreading awareness on Twitter.
“The need of the hour is to respect absolutely and follow the government’s directive. Stay home. Stay safe. Stay healthy,” Kohli captioned the video.
“We all know that we are going through a tough time. In the video, before Anushka says, Kohli said:” And the only way to stop the spread of coronavirus is to work together. “
“We’re all for safety, and everybody’s at home,” the Indian captain said before the Bollywood diva replied: “You have to do it too to keep the virus from spreading further.” Kohli concluded the video and said: “Let us and be safe through self-isolation.”
Not only Kohli, but almost every big name in cricket is now isolated at his or her home. The Indian ODI series against South Africa was discontinued last week due to the pandemic. The first game of the series washed away before the BCCI decided to postpone the series.
Not just the one-day series between India and South Africa, but almost all the major series are called for understandable reasons. Last week, the BCCI also suspended the IPL till April 15. At the moment, there is no clarity on whether the league will be held this year. PCB also pulled out of the PSL before the semifinals.
In international cricket, Australia and New Zealand pulled out the ODI and T20I series between them. England has also returned home from Sri Lanka without playing a two-Test series. People like Bangladesh and Ireland have even quit their jobs.
