Cricket Resumed In Pakistan For The First Time Since The COVID-19 Pandemic Began With Zimbabwe Series:
For the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic started, cricket resumed in Pakistan as the Men in Green captured Zimbabwe in the first of the Rawalpindi 3-ODI series. The contest turned out to be a closer one than expected, although Pakistan managed to secure a 26-run win. The match, however, created a strange incident that saw the hilarious fashion of Imam-ul-Haq running out.
It was the 26th, with Imam-ul-Haq and Haris Sohail in the centre of Pakistan’s batting. The Pakistani batsman guided the ball towards the backward point, as Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza bowled a delivery to Imam.
Sohail ran towards Imam for a fast single at the non-striker ‘s end. Imam also replied to the call and, before realising that he could not complete the sprint, ran a few steps down the wicket.
Imam wanted to return to his crease, but Sohail continued his run and soon they both ran to the same end. The Imam had to dive to make his way to the deck, but it was too late.
Imam was also lying on the ground for a minute or so after putting in a diving effort, wondering what had happened. The video of the incident was widely posted on social media and went viral.
Pakistan against Zimbabwe put an impressive score of 281 runs on the board, with Sohail (71) and Imam (58) being the team’s top scoring players. While chasing the goal, Zimbabwe also put in a brave fight. For the tourists, Brendan Taylor was the pick of the batsmen, scoring 112 runs from 117 balls.
He didn’t get any support from the other end of it at all. Wesley Madhevere (55) supported Taylor in the middle, but there were no players who were able to orchestrate a partnership in the middle with Taylor.
Winning kicks off a new age for Pakistan, who have a bee that has long wanted to resume international cricket in Pakistan. The series is set to face several different kinds of challenges, with COVID-19 still rampant in Pakistan.
