The coronavirus pandemic forced almost the entire world to stay at home. India is currently on lockdown until April 15 to break the spread of the virus. However, this lockdown has caused problems for families of daily wage laborers. Many foundations and charitable trusts have come forward to help them and also cricketers and celebrities are doing their part.
Maharashtra is one of the worst affected states in India, with over 120 patients favoring coronavirus. Pune is one of the most visited cities in the state and MS Dhoni has donated Rs 1 lakh to help the daily wage laborers in the city. He donated the money to the Mukul Madhav Foundation, public charitable trust in Pune, through the crowdsourcing website Keto.
The fundraiser set a goal of achieving Rs 12.5 lakh for the great cause and has already raised over 12 lakhs for the foundation. These donations will help to provide daily grocery supplies to families of daily wage laborers.
MS Dhoni is heartbroken but fans have criticized him
MS Dhoni’s help is heartening to the daily wage workers and many praise him too. But some fans have been busy in criticizing him. The 38-year-old said they felt like they should donate a lot more and the lakhs would be a much smaller amount. Interestingly, MS Dhoni has topped the fundraiser so far and the criticism, in this case, has not been counted.
Meanwhile, apart from Ranchi superstar, Sourav Ganguly, Irfan Pathan, and Yusuf Pathan have also come forward to help the poor. The BCCI president has donated Rs 50 lakh worth of rice to protect themselves from coronavirus, while the face masks have been donated to Irfan and Yusuf. In addition, Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan also donated to the Prime Minister’s Aid Fund and asked his fans to donate as well.
However, fans were not impressed with MS Dhoni and criticized him for not donating a large sum for poor people.
