Well after the 2021 T20 World Cup, India has clinched 9 T20Is in a succession and has thrashed the West Indies in both ODIs & T20Is at home. Both the batting and bowling sections impressed at various times of the play, and the young talent ramping up swiftly became the series’ major strengths. India made 4 changes before the play and still kept a clean sheet. Here is about Twitter Reactions On Team India’s Clinical Win against West Indies.
Despite winning the toss West Indies have chosen to field first at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens. The openers were Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ishan Kishan. However, Gaikwad has been dismissed just for 4 runs. Kishan and Shreyas Iyer put up a good show including some surprising boundaries, but Roston Chase stepped in and made a strong impression, dismissing Kishan for a 31-ball 34. Iyer was out for a 25 off 16, while Rohit missed the track and was sacked by Dominic Drakes.
Having 4 wickets lost for 93 runs in the 14th over, Suryakumar Yadav & Venkatesh Iyer teamed up to shine. The West Indies bowling unit couldn’t find the way to break the partnership, and notably, Yadav was outstanding as he reached his 4th half-century in T20Is. Venkatesh Iyer also contributed 19-ball-35 including 2 – 6’s and 4 – 4’s to help India to post 184/5.
In response, the West Indies didn’t get off to a fine start, losing both starters Shai Hope & Kyle Mayers swiftly, and the responsibility was on in-form Nicholas Pooran to lead the team home in a massive run chase. Deepak Chahar, who made the crucial breakthroughs early, had a mild strain after bowling 11 deliveries, and India was missing one bowler, but that didn’t disturb the lineup as they are having an all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer. Rowman Powell was a significant wicket as he was getting picked with a 14 ball 25 before he was caught by Shardul Thakur with a great catch.
Kieron Pollard, Jason Holder, and Roston Chase were all removed swiftly, and West Indies were in danger after 6 wickets were gone for only 100 runs in 12 overs. Pooran and Romario Shepherd’s stand of 48 runs boosted the hopes to some extent before Pooran scored his 3rd straight half-century. In the conclusion, the last 3 overs from India’s bowlers became crucial, as they landed their yorkers in. Harshal Patel was indeed the star of the bowlers, bagging 3 wickets for 22 runs to lead India to a 17-run victory.
