Mohammed Shami Reveals Events From The Past Which Drove Him To Take Extreme Steps:
India pacer Mohammed Shami disclosed on Saturday that he has been thinking three times about committing suicide while coping with extreme stress due to personal and professional issues.
Mohammmed Shami made the surprising revelation with his Indian teammate Rohit Sharma during a live Instagram session. In early 2018, he was accused of domestic violence by Shami’s wife Hasin Jahan. Shami and his brother were arrested under IPC Section 498A for domestic violence.
During the challenging times, Mohammed Shami thanked his family for their unparalleled support which helped him recover heavily.
“I think I would have lost my cricket if my family hadn’t helped me back then. I thought of committing suicide three times during that period due to extreme stress and personal problems. I didn’t even talk about cricket. We were living on the 24th floor. They (family) were afraid I would fall off the balcony. My brother was really supportive of me. My two to three friends stayed with me for 24 hours. My parents told me to focus on cricket so I could recover from this process and not think about anything else. Then I started practicing, sweating it out a lot at a Dehradun academy, “Shami said.
Shami also announced that after his injury in the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup, he had almost taken 18 months to get back on the field.
