ODI and T20I skipper of England Eoin Morgan has been named the captain of the London Spirit men’s team in the opening edition of ‘The Hundred’. The tournament, which is to be held next year, will contain eight city-based on franchise teams, each one of which will field both a men’s and women’s squad.

The Hundred will be the first of its kind style. Every inning will have a maximum of hundred balls while the bowlers will deliver either 5 or ten succeeding balls but no more than twenty per match. Dissimilar to the other formats, the ends will be converted after 10 balls. The bowlers can deliver either 5 or ten successive balls and a maximum of twenty balls. There are so many other rules too as the cricketing world awaits to watch the cricket’s latest revolution.

Morgan will have a chance to make history in the coming summer when he leads London Spirit. The southpaw batsman has already recorded his name in the history books by leading England to their first-ever World Cup victory last summer. He will eye success when he leads London Spirit in the coming year as well.

“As a player and a skipper I am always looking for ways to improve and it is clear from talking to Shane – who has an amazing cricket brain, about everything from tactics in this new tournament to how to get the best from our team – that this is an exciting chance to take cricket forward,” Morgan said in an official statement.

Heather Knight to lead the women’s squad:

The London Spirit also introduced its women’s squad captain. England’s women team Heather Knight will be leading the London Spirit women’s team in the tournament’s introductory edition. Knight led England to its fourth Women’s World Cup title in 2017. The franchise has also appointed Trevor Griffin as the head coach of the women squad.

“I am looking next to leading the London Spirit women’s team in The Hundred next year. With the new format, there is going to be the chance to have a real planned input as a captain, and I am excited to work that out and also bring together a new team in a new competition,” said Knight.
