Rohit Sharma on Kohli’s form
In a three-match One-Day International series that concluded on Friday, India thrashed the West Indies (February 11). They didn’t have much tough fight to win matches since the bowlers performed admirably across the series. Former India captain Virat Kohli, on the other hand, struggled with the bat, scoring only 26 runs in 3 appearances, with ducks in the final 2 games.
Captain Rohit Sharma was dismissed early in both matches, giving Kohli a fantastic opportunity to make his 71st century. But somehow it didn’t really happen when the 33-year-old stepped out in hunt with a duck. It’s no surprise that after the 3rd ODI, Rohit was challenged about Kohli’s form at the post-match press conference. And India skipper Virat Kohli brushed off any concerns, reminding out that the same batsman had two fifties in ODIs against South Africa.
I don’t think there is anything wrong, Rohit opens up on Kohli’s form
“Virat Kohli ko confidence ki zaroorat hai? Kya baat kar rahe ho yaar. It is a different matter that he did not get a hundred, but in the series against South Africa, he scored two half-centuries in three games. I don’t think there is anything wrong. The team management is not at all worried about that,” Rohit said.
However, the West Indies put India’s middle order to the challenge all across the ODI series. Their bowling unit made early blows with the new ball, but India’s middle-order batsmen constantly got them out of difficulty. Despite India isn’t under considerable pressure in the 1st match, pursuing the total, Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, and Rishabh Pant, stood strong for the side in the last 2 games.
In the 2nd ODI, Surya hit 64 runs and restored the hosts’ attack alongside KL Rahul (49) to push India to 238 runs. Shreyas Iyer struck 80 runs in the series’ last game, while Rishabh Pant contributed 56 runs.
