On Saturday evening, happiness galore in the Suryakumar Yadav’s household and amongst his friends and fans on social media after watching him in India’s jersey. Despite a thunderous IPL 2020, he was snubbed from the Australia Tour. However, now not only has he been selected in the 19-man squad, but is also likely to feature in the eleven as Manish Pandey and Sanju Samson, both of whom were toured Australia, have been dropped.

Yadav had stated that he was extremely excited when he was named to the Indian squad for the T20I series against England that was announced on 20th February 2021. The right-hander revealed that he was sitting in his room and trying to watch a movie and that was when the message was conveyed to him. Yadav further added that he started crying immediately, and he had a video call with his family, where the entire family became emotional.
“I was very excited as I got to know about the selection. I was sitting in the room, trying to watch a movie, and got a notification on the phone that I was picked in the Indian team for England T20Is. I started crying after seeing my name on the team. I called my parents, my wife, and my sister. We had a video call, and all of us started crying,” Yadav had said on the official BCCI website.
Suryakumar Yadav recently tweeted that “This one is for my mom, dad, sister, my wife, my coach and all my well-wishers. We dreamt together – we waited together – we full filled together”. Suryakumar Yadav, who is in his second spell with the Mumbai Indians, thanked the franchise for showing immense faith in him.
