Indian leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has recently admitted that he is willing to give his best and also challenged that they will see a more confident Yuzi during the upcoming tour against Sri Lanka, which is starting from July 13th, 2021. Yuzvendra Chahal on Ind vs SL 2021.

Team India is all set to play 3 ODI and 3 T20I games against the Lankans at R.Premadasa Stadium, Colombo.

Chahal is one of the key members of the Indian white-ball set and we have all seen a significant dip in this performance since the last 50-over world cup. He was also seen struggling with his form and has failed to make an impact in the shorter format of the game too.

Due to his bad form – he has lost his spot from the last two T20I and the entire ODI games against England and this has made a huge impact on him mentally.

In a recent interview, Chahal has admitted about his struggle and spoke about his poor form and said -” My performance – I don’t think it was a dip [in form] or anything. You can’t perform in every match. I will try my level best. This series is very important to me,”

Yuzvendra Chahal on Ind vs SL 2021. Chahal has also added stating – “I keep having conversations with the bowling coach. They [management] have given us confidence, and that’s why I’m here. If it wasn’t there, no one in the team [would be here]. My main focus at the moment is just this series – there’s been lesser cricket over the last year, but that’s not in our hands. Whatever series happens, we want to perform. After this series, my focus will be on the IPL, and only then the [T20] World Cup. Right now, I’m focusing on this tour only.”

‘I’m More Focused On My Game’- Yuzvendra Chahal

The 30-year leg spinner has played an ODI game back in November 2020 against Australia and since then he was seen occupied with T20 and domestic cricket.

Chahal has said that the head coach Rahul Dravid has reminded him that he will play the role of a senior spinner during the white-ball assignments In Sri Lanka.

Speaking about his break from ODI format he said – “I’m playing an ODI series after so long, but we’ve already played here – two practice matches. [We’ve been practicing] early in the morning so that we get used to the heat. It’ll be totally different compared to 20 overs.”

Chahal is more focused on how he bowls those wicket-taking deliveries and will look to restrict the flow of runs

He said – ”I’ve played for five years, 50-plus matches, so I’m used to all this. This is not an excuse or something. Now, when I bowl, I just focus on how to get batters out. That’s it,”

He has concluded by saying “I have got a couple of variations and I’m focusing on that only, not using other deliveries. You will see a more confident Yuzi in this series. I’m just working on my angles and in general trying to bowl more.”
