Sri Lanka Leading The ODI Series
Sri Lanka team is currently hosting the tour of the West Indies. And both the teams are locking horns for three-match ODIs series and two-match T20Is series in the tour. Two matches of the ODIs series are over and Sri Lanka took an invincible lead by defeating the Windies with wickets.
The third match of the ODIs series will be held on March 1 at Pallekele. And Sri Lanka has announced its squad for the upcoming challenge. Both teams are getting themselves ready for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup. And ahead of that, they will face each other in a couple of T20Is on the 4th and 6th of March.
National Selectors Sticking To The Same Set-Up
Sri Lanka played significantly in the last two ODIs matches, so the national selectors have decided to stick to the same arrangement of players. But they have decided to replace Dimuth Karunaratne with the T20I skipper Lasith Malinga.
Selecting the same players will not give chance to Oshada Fernando, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, and Danushka Gunathilaka to play in the next match. In the last T20I against India, Nuwan Pradeep got injured and he was ruled out from the game. But he will be back to action soon as the selectors added his name to the squad.
The all-rounder Shehan Jayasuriya has also got a recall in the T20I squad. Lasith Malinga will face huge pressure as he is going to take the responsibility of bringing the T20I team back on the winning track.
Sri Lanka team had won only 4 games since 2019, and 3 out of it came under the captaincy of Dasun Shanaka. The only victory that has come under the leadership of Lasith Malinga was when he claimed four wickets against New Zealand.
Sri Lanka Squad For The Two-Match T20I Series:
