The coronavirus outbreak has disrupted human existence and caused more than 88,000 deaths worldwide. Speaking of India, the country has seen over 5,000 confirmed cases and 166 deaths so far. India is currently on a 21-day lockdown, and all sporting events have been affected due to the pandemic.
The much-awaited IPL 2020 is in the process of being pulled out of the tournament, and there are clouds of cancellations around it. The cash-strapped league set to begin March 29. However, in the wake of the pandemic, the IPL was postponed to April 15. However, considering the tough situation around the world, the chances of the tournament are narrowed.
Meanwhile, many cricketers, including Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, Ajinkya Rahane and Rohit Sharma, have contributed to the PM-CARES Relief Fund to assist the fight against coronavirus outbreaks. With no news on the start of IPL 2020, Sunrisers Hyderabad, one of the franchises, has decided to do their part to solve the pandemic.
The team which is going to lead by David Warner has announced a donation of Rs 10 crore for COVID-19 support activities. “Sun TV Group (Sunrisers Hyderabad) is donating Rs 10 crore to support Corona covid-19,” tweeted the franchise.
