South African all-rounder, Chris Morris announced his retirement from all formats of cricket. The 34-year-old has ended things on a 12-year stint that began in 2009 with a first-class game. Morris last appeared for the Titans in a four-day franchise series clash versus Boland, at Boland Park in Paarl.

Morris made his international debut appearance in a T20I versus New Zealand in 2012, and he has since played ODIs and Tests. Morris eventually took 12, 48, and 34 wickets in 4 Tests, 42 ODIs, and 23 T20Is. To demonstrate his accomplishments, he also secured 3 half-centuries at the top standard.

Morris proceeded to play for the Rajasthan Royals (RR), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the famous IPL. Morris announced his retirement by also stating that he will accept a coaching position with his domestic team, the Titans.

“I had my discussions with whoever I needed to quite a while ago, I haven’t spoken to CSA since then. At the end of the day, how they treated Faf (du Plessis), Immi (Imran Tahir) or me is something they’ve to deal with, there is no way I can comment. I wasn’t a part of the negotiations, I haven’t been spoken to for a year, maybe longer than a year,” said Morris.

“So can’t really comment on what’s happening, a few stories are coming out, I know which one I can believe. It’s a touchy subject, there are so many different angles to it,” he stated.

Morris already stated in October that his tenure with the SA was all but finished. According to the experienced, Cricket South Africa did not approach him for a longer duration.

Morris last appeared for South Africa in a World Cup match versus Australia at Old Trafford in Manchester in 2019.
