K L Rahul’s Essential Role
BCCI president Sourav Ganguly praises K L Rahul for his work in the first T20I match against New Zealand. He played an essential role in the match by helping his team to win against New Zealand in Auckland on Friday.
In India’s win in one-day series against Australia, he also emerged as a strong contender for wicket-keeping.
Sourav Ganguly Praises K L Rahul
Sourav Ganguly wants Rahul to continue his current form even in the longest format of the game. He admired Rahul for his batting performance in Test matches and want him to continue the same for red-ball games also.
When asked about his inclusion, Ganguly said, “Rahul has played very well in T20Is and ODIs. He started efficiently in Test cricket but has gone down slightly. But in limited-overs cricket, he has played really well and hopes he continues all the good work but as I said, all these decisions are of the team management’s.”
Rahul In Recent Matches
In the recent matches against Australia and New Zealand, Rahul has shown a very fine performance with wicket-keeping and has been amazing with batting also.
India National Cricket team management decided to give him both the role of wicket-keeper as well as a batsman in the limited-overs game.
After his inclusion in the squad and dropping out Rishab Pant, Ganguly said that it was Virat Kohli’s decision. Management and the team captain will decide his role.
Rahul was forced to do wicket-keeping after Rishabh Pant’s injury in the 1st ODI against Australia. They dropped Rishab Pant from the playing eleven in the continuing T20I series against New Zealand.
Rahul In Every Batting Position
From batting as an opener to batting at No.5, Rahul has performed well in every possible position in India’s top five in the last month. He also achieved fair success in every position.
Even in the first T20I against New Zealand, he scored 56 off 27 balls as an opener. His score and the 99-run partnership with captain Virat Kohli created the base for India’s 204-run chase against New Zealand on Friday.
