Sourav Ganguly Announced Day-Night Test
The BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has announced that India will play a day-night Test during their upcoming tour of Australia which is expected to take place later this year.
This announcement comes a month after Virat Kohli declaring that his team is ready to play day-night Test in Australia. Though the decision is not official yet.
Ganguly also said that the 2nd Test of the next home series against England will also be a day-night game. He also said that the Board will definitely try to keep at least one day-night match in each series.
Kohli And Team Ready For Challenge
During the 3-match ODI series against Australia last month, Kohli said that his team is ready for the challenge. Whatever may be the venue, it doesn’t matter to them whether it’s Gabba or Perth.
It has become a very exciting quality of any Test series and the Indian team is open for playing the day-night Tests, he added.
India played its first day-night Test match last November against Bangladesh in Eden Gardens. And they won the match comfortably with plenty of time in hand.
Australia Expecting India To Play One Game At Gabba
India turned down the proposal of playing a day-night Test in Adelaide which was offered by Australia in the year 2018-19. The day-night game seen as a positive response to Test cricket’s diminishing appearance.
The venue for the pink ball game has not been decided yet, but most probably it is likely to be held in Perth or Adelaide. Now Australia is expecting India to agree for one game at Gabba this year.
Meanwhile, after the conclusion of IPL, India is set to play 3 ODIs matches and 3 T20Is in Sri Lanka.
