Concussion Test Would Take Place In Three Days:
Australia’s No. 3 batsman Steve Smith will have to clear a second concussion examination in three days to perform against England in Southampton on Sunday in the second ODI against England. After being struck on the head during a throwdown session in the net on the eve of the fixture, Smith had rested for the first game.
Smith is reported to have passed Thursday’s concussion test, but Aaron Finch reported he was left out as a ‘cautionary measure.’
“He got a hit on the head in practice yesterday. To leave him out is a precautionary measure,” Finch said during the first ODI toss. To be cleared for Smith to play on Sunday, he’ll have to pass another test, to be held one day before the game.
In Smith’s absence, Australia pushed Marcus Stoinis up to No. 3, where he looked promising for his 34-ball 43.
