India’s Difficulties In The Match
New No.4 player of team India, Shreyas Iyer has achieved another record in the third ODI of the 3-match series against New Zealand. Iyer has continued his good form in batting and scored another half-century for his team.
After winning the toss, New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson elected to bowl first. The New Zealand bowlers started in a good manner and got early wickets of captain Virat Kohli and Mayank Agarwal. Prithvi Shaw was also sent away from the field after getting a good start.
India was in all sorts of difficulties, and KL Rahul and Iyer were the only expectations left for India to overcome the challenging score.
Shreyas Iyer Career
Shreyas Iyer has a fine batting career in both ODIs and T20s. Till now he has slammed 8 fifties and one century in 18 ODIs matches that he has played, with an average of 49.87.
In the T20Is, he hit 2 fifties and made a total score of 417 runs with an average of 27.8. He has also played 62 IPL matches for Delhi Daredevils with an average score of 30.56.
Shreyas Iyer Surpassed Ian Chappell
Now Iyer has surpassed former Australia cricketer Ian Chappell to set a new world record with his recent fifty against New Zealand.
For 8 times in 16 innings, he has scored more than 50 runs in the ODIs. And holds the record for the best percentage of 50-plus scores in ODIs. His percentage is 56.25. Earlier this record was held by Ian Chappell.
Iyer proves that he is perfect for the fourth position in team India as the New Zealand tour has been a great one for him. Now he has fixed his place, though he showed some poor performances in the beginning. After scoring a century in the first game, he has hit back-to-back 50s for India.
