Former Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar has responded to batting legend Sunil Gavaskar’s comment that there is more possibility of snowfall in Lahore rather than a series between India and Pakistan.
Akhtar Posts Pictures Of Snowfall In Lahore On His Twitter
Akhtar posted a picture presumably of snow-covered streets of Lahore on his Twitter and said that there was snowfall in the city last year and nothing is impossible referring to the idea of India and Pakistan series.
He also posted a picture of Sunil Gavaskar alongside with words on it that read,” Snowfall in Lahore more likely than Pakistan-India series: Sunil Gavaskar on Shoaib Akhtar’s idea.”
Akhtar tweeted,” Well Sunny Bhai, we did have snowfall in Lahore last year 🙂 So nothing is impossible.”
Previously Gavaskar said there are more chances of snowfall in Lahore than an India-Pakistan series in the present situation.
The former batsman said these words while speaking on former Pakistan captain Ramiz Raja’s Youtube channel.
Gavaskar said those words following Akhtar’s suggestion that a three-match One-Day series should be held to collect relief funds for fighting the corona outbreak.
However, Akhtar’s suggestion was also dismissed by another great player Kapil Dev, who said players’ lives should not be put in danger and it is not worth endangering a single life for the sake of the game. He also added that India does not need money.
Akhtar wanted these matches to be held behind closed doors in the absence of spectators. He also believes that this made-for-TV event will bring huge revenue as there has been no such series for a very long time.
India And Pakistan Might Clash Next In Asia Cup
India and Pakistan have not played a single series since 2007 due to political tensions between the two countries.
But they are playing against each other in ICC tournaments and in Asia Cup. The two arch-rivals are expected to clash next in Asia Cup which is scheduled to be held in September-October this year unless it gets canceled due to the corona threat.
