The young all-rounder, Shivam Dube, paid a warm tribute to the Team India Vice-Captain Rohit Sharma after he scored his maiden T20I half-century against West Indies Team in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday.
Despite Dube’s outstanding innings, India could not win the match against Windies. The third and last T20I match of the series will be held at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Wednesday. Dube thanked Rohit Sharma for his motivational words before the start of the game and added that they helped him in performing well against Team West Indies.
Shivam Dube Thanks Rohit Sharma For Motivating Him:
In the Mumbai Indians’ official post, Dube was quoted as saying, “Rohit Bhai helped me, and he said, ‘stay calm and back your strength’. “
“I think that was the motivation words that I was needed the most from a senior player,” said Shivam Dube.
Dube scored 54 off 30 deliveries in the second T20I match, including three boundaries and four sixes. Three of these sixes came in one over of Kieron Pollard.
This was Dube’s maiden T20I half-century, and courtesy this knock, the southpaw joined Robin Uthappa in a unique group. Dube became only the second Indian player to score his maiden T20I half-century in an international match.
After the end of the match, Dube said that he was satisfied with his maiden half-century but was not wholeheartedly happy as the result was not in Team India’s favor.
Dube, in the post-match press conference, said, “It is really special for me because it is first 50 from my side to Team India. But was not happy because winning the match was more crucial for me.”
