Shikhar Dhawan has been one of India’s main batting mainstays in limited-overs cricket for quite some time now. His off-field persona is as colourful as his performance on-field. He loves to entertain people of all ages through his social media posts across platforms be it Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook. People are pretty fond of “Gabbar” as he is lovingly called. They look forward to his antics on social media. And he never fails to keep them entertained.

The post which garnered attention:
Dhawan recently posted a picture on the social photo-sharing app, Instagram with his teammates Yuzvendra Chahal and Deepak Chahar. The trio were part of the Indian team in Australia for the white-ball series against the hosts. Dhawan had a wonderful T20I series as he emerged as the second-highest run-getter for India behind captain Virat Kohli. While returning home after winning the T20I series against Australia, Dhawan posted a picture with Chahal and Chahar. He captioned the post as “Aankhein nikaal ke gotiyaan khelta hoon gotiyaan”. This post was in good humour and many netizens did enjoy the happy post which the senior southpaw shared.

A troller who replied in distaste:
But there was one Instagram user who didn’t respond positively. The comment which he made on the post was rather distasteful and felt unwarranted. The user had commented on the photo saying, “Tatti Shakal…Tatti Gameplay?”. It is at times hard to understand why do fans resort to the personality shaming of their icons. They have every right to criticise their game, ask constructive questions. But when things get personal and ugly things are said online, it doesn’t make for good viewing. And this is what exactly happened when this random user commented such venom on Dhawan’s post.
How Did Shikhar Dhawan respond?
Shikhar Dhawan is not someone who will take things lightly. He ensured that he will respond strongly in a manner that will teach the troller a lesson. Dhawan replied saying, “Hanji aapke gharwale bhi yehi keh rahe they aapke baarein.” This shows how important it is at times for even stars to reply to comments which may not be in good taste. This sets a precedent for netizens to follow while they take digs at their loved stars. While we certainly appreciate good humour but it should never get downright ugly.
