Shikhar Dhawan, India’s captain for the Sri Lankan tour, expressed confidence in Rahul Dravid, the Lanka series’ head coach. The white-ball series begins on July 18 at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, with all matches held there.

In the absence of usual captain Virat Kohli, Dhawan will captain the Men in Blue for the very first time. The left-handed hitter went back to memories, recalling his encounters with Dravid and his time playing under his guidance.
Dravid has been a close of his since he began playing domestic cricket. Dhawan, 35, expressed his views on Star Sports’ show “Follow the Blues” in an exclusive interview.
“It is a big achievement for me that I have become the captain of the Indian side. We have got a lovely bunch of boys, great support staff, and we have worked earlier as well. When I was the captain of India A, Rahul Dravid was the coach, and I have been to NCA many times, so there is a good bond,” Dhawan said.
‘I Know Him Since, Ranji Trophy’: Dhawan
“I have a good relation with Rahul Bhai. When I started playing Ranji Trophy, I played against him, and I have known him since then. When I went to play India A match, I was the Captain, and he was the coach, so there was interaction”.
“When he became the Director of NCA, we used to go there for around 20 days, so we had a lot of interaction. And now that we have the chance to play six matches together, so it will be great fun,” he added.
India has selected six uncapped players for its tour of Sri Lanka, including Devdutt Padikkal, Chetan Sakariya, Ruturaj Gaikwad and others. Dhawan seemed upbeat about guiding the youngsters on the tour before the series.
Dhawan focused particularly on the importance of learning from each other in the series. On July 18, the ODI series begins followed by the T20I series on July 25. On the other hand Kohli’s team for a five-match Test series, now in England.
