The presence of Rahul Dravid with the Indian cricket team on their tour of Sri Lanka has raised the issue of whether Dravid can take over as full-time head coach of the team from Ravi Shastri. Dravid’s coaching of the junior Indian players has already received praise from experts and fans. There is No Reason To Remove Ravi Shastri As Head Coach.
No Reason To Remove Ravi Shastri As Head Coach
Former Indian captain Kapil Dev shared his opinion on the subject. Dev believes that there is no need to discuss this subject at this time and that people should wait until the Sri Lankan series is over before concluding.
Kapil Dev, who is 62 years old, also stated there is nothing wrong with training the future Indian coach, but Ravi Shastri has done a fantastic job and that there is no need to dismiss him.
“I don’t think there is any need to speak about it. Let this Sri Lanka series get over. We’ll get to know the kind of performance our team has dished out. If you’re trying to groom a new coach, there’s nothing wrong with it. Then again, if Ravi Shastri continues to do a good job, there’s no reason to remove him either. Only time will tell. Before that, I think it will put unnecessary pressure on our coaches and players,” said Kapil Dev.
‘They Should Apply Pressure On Two Teams Simultaneously’: Kapil Dev
Kapil Dev went on to say that the Indian cricket team has incredible bench strength and that having two distinct sides that can win in England and Sri Lanka is the best thing to happen for Indian cricket.
“Indian team has big bench strength. If players get the opportunity and India can assemble two teams that can claim to win in both England and Sri Lanka, there is nothing better,” said Dev.
Kapil Dev also remarked that giving young players a chance to establish their importance to the team management. Dev also said that the team management should determine if two Indian teams may be fielded at the same time.
“If the youngsters get the opportunity, there’s nothing wrong with it. But if it is up to the team management to decide whether they should apply such pressure on two teams simultaneously,” concluded Dev.
