Afridi Thanks Yuvraj And Harbhajan Singh
Former star player Yuvraj Singh and off-spinner Harbhajan Singh, who has supported former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi for his efforts in fighting the corona pandemic, are facing backlash for backing him.
Now Afridi has come out defending the two players against the adverse reactions they are receiving.
He stated that it was sad to see that the Indian players’ message was getting misunderstood and thanked the two for extending their support.
The 40-year old tweeted on Wednesday,” “Very sad to see simple messages of humanity getting misunderstood! We r ambassadors for Love & peace, Truly value the support extended by @YUVSTRONG12 & @harbhajan_singh for coming forward & urging people to #DonateKaroNa #HumanitybeyondBorders.”
It was already known that Harbhajan previously sent out a video message where he urged people to contribute to the cause and appealed other cricketers to make such appeals like Afridi for donations to help people affected by the deadly virus in Pakistan.
Similarly, Yuvraj Singh also lent his support to Afridi by saying these are testing times, and let’s do our bit.
He tweeted,” These are testing times. It’s time to look out for each other, especially the ones who are lesser fortunate. Let’s do our bit. I am supporting @SAfridiOfficial&@SAFoundationNin this noble initiative of covid19. Pls, donate on http://donatekarona.com #StayHome @harbhajan_singh.”
However, the two players’ comments did not go well with a section of Indian Twitter users, though Afridi thanked them for their encouraging words. They were angered for supporting an arch-rival team captain and posted negative comments on the two.
Yuvraj Singh: I’ll Always Stand For Humanity
After facing anger, Yuvraj later clarified that he is an Indian, and he’ll always bleed blue and will still stand for humanity.
He posted a note on his Instagram, which read, “I don’t understand how a msg to help the most vulnerable people gets blown out of proportion! All I tried to achieve through that message was to help people in our own respective countries by providing healthcare, and my intention was not to hurt anyone’s feelings. I’m an Indian, and I will always bleed blue and will always stand for humanity. Jai Hind.”
