Lack of communication of Team India is criticized regarding dropping players, Virendra Sehwag the former opener of India disclosed that MS Dhoni was also failed to communicate in the dressing room properly. With the decision of benching Rishabh Pant continuously, Sehwag was not happy at all and in the same context, he gave former captain MS Dhoni’s example.
It was disclosed by Sehwag, that in 2012 Dhoni had pointed it that Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar, and Gautam Gambhir, at the top order they were being rotated because on the field they are slow but in the dressing room with the same thing were never communicated.
In the dressing room, the talk was disclosed by former batsman that an opportunity should be given to Rohit Sharma that’s why there is a rotation policy that is being adopted.
Sehwag Points Dhoni For Lack Of Communication
“ We were never asked or consulted when MS Dhoni said about us in Australia that the top three are slow fielders. We were knowledgeable about it from the media. He opened this directly in the press conference rather he never discussed it in the team meeting that as a fielder we were slow,” Sehwag said.
In Australia, the former opener was referring to the tri-series in 2012 when it was decided by Dhoni to rotate Sachin Tendulkar, Virendra Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir towards top order.
“ At the time when we were there, usually the captain goes to the player and discuss with him if there is any problem. But now, I don’t know whether Virat Kohli is doing the same or not. Of the team setup, I am not part. I have heard from people that when as captain Rohit Sharma had gone to Asia Cup, with all players he had discussed the condition,” he said.
“ It is up to Rishabh Pant that how he will score runs? If Sachin Tendulkar is being benched also, in scoring runs he will be not able to make runs. If you think of him as a match-winner, why you will not make him play? Only following the reason that he isn’t consistent?” Sehwag questioned.
On the Indian side, the Rishabh Pant had lost his position. And it happened when he concussed by a bouncer of Pat Cummins at the time 1st ODI against Australia. Since then the dual role was given to KL Rahul as a Keeper batsman. In fact, in India’s squad, Pant is the only one, who has yet to play against New Zealand.
