Scott Styris Praised Shubman Gill
The former New Zealand All-rounder, Scott Styris has praised Shubman Gill and called him as a “Special talent”.
Styris suggested that the Indian team must bring Gill into the squad for the second Test which is going to be held at Christchurch from February 28. He also feels that Gill might bring a change in the team’s fortunes.
In a post-match analysis show, Styris said that he thinks India is unnecessarily avoiding a special talent like Shubman Gill, he is that kind of player on whom Kohli could rely on for the next 10 years.
He even added that – “I’m not sure what the Indian skipper feels about Shubman Gill”
A 10-Wicket Loss Of India
The New Zealand team gave a humiliating 10-wicket loss to the Indian team in the first Test match at the Basin Reserve, Wellington. This was India’s first loss after seven straight victories in the ongoing ICC World Test Championship.
And it comes as a big notch in the confidence of skipper Virat Kohli and his men – who came into this series with some serious strategies.
The New Zealand bowling attack was so well-built that they didn’t allow the Indian batsmen to reach a score of 200 in either of their innings.
India’s Innings
In the first inning, the Indian team managed to score just 165 runs, while in the second inning, they made 191, by taking a lead of 8 runs. Ajinkya Rahane made the highest score of 46 runs in 138 balls in the first innings.
Mayank Agarwal and Prithvi Shaw opened the innings for India. And in the second inning, Agarwal managed to score 58 off 99 balls while Shaw, who was playing international cricket after 18 months has contributed only 14 runs in 30 balls.
The Top order has been a disaster for Team India and it is one of the main reasons for India’s loss in the 1st Test. They need to come up with some different strategies in order to pull off a win in the 2nd Test.
