The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 edition is keenly awaited by cricket fans as well as experts and former cricketers. Thus, many former cricketers have shared their strongest XI for the team and table predictions for the upcoming season, which will be held in six cities across India due to the COVID-19 threat.
IPL 2021 is around the corners
We’ve seen predictions from Harsha Bhogle, Aakash Chopra and other pundits. New Zealand’s former all-rounder Scott Styris also shared his prediction for IPL 2021, where he placed MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the bottom of the table. CSK, who are entering the forthcoming IPL season on the back of their worst IPL season in the 2020 edition.
Following his prediction, the official Twitter handle of the Yellow Army shared a picture of Styris who is a former CSK player and asked why he feels the MS Dhoni-led franchise won’t be able to go the distance this time around. To this, Styris had a funny response.
According to the New Zealander, defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) will top the points table in the league stage followed by Delhi Capitals (DC), Punjab Kings (PBKS), and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), who will qualify for the playoffs.
Styris further said that Sunrisers Hyderabad would finish fifth followed by Rajasthan Royals at sixth because of Jofra Archer and Chris Morris’ fitness issues. He put Kolkata Knight Riders seventh because of their batting issues followed by CSK. The former CSK all-rounder took to Twitter and posted his prediction.
Scott Styris Apologies To Official CSK Twitter Handle After Predicting Them At The Bottom Of The Table
As expected, Scott Styris’ tweet received a lot of backlash from CSK fans. In fact, the franchise itself tweeted and have shown their disappointment with Styris for putting CSK in the last position. Later, Styris, in a hilarious way, also apologised for the same. He replied to CSK’s message and wrote, “I consider myself reprimanded. Super coach @SPFleming7 has already told me off.” Chennai Super Kings starts their campaign this year against Delhi Capitals on 10th April 2021.
