Meantime, Butt is trying to restart his cricket career as a match referee, as per records. The well-known broadcaster took part in an online level-1 training for umpires and match officials. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) launched an online programme on Monday that would train interested individuals about umpiring and match refereeing.
The programme was designed to provide cricketers a new direction and to boost job chances for former Pakistan players. Candidates will learn the fundamental umpiring rules, regulations, and laws of the game during the course. After the training has been completed, a written examination and fitness test, and an interview, are needed for applicants.
Participants who finish the course will be qualified to referee games at the club and school levels. In addition to Salman Butt, other notable individuals on the course list include Abdul Rauf and Bilal Asif. According to sources, up to 350 participants took part in the online course, according to Pakistani media News International.
During his eight-year cricket career, which spanned 2003 to 2010, the 36-year-old represented Pakistan in 33 Tests and 78 One-Day Internationals, hitting 1889 and 2725 runs respectively. In international cricket, he scored 11 hundreds and 27 fifties for Pakistan.
