Sachin Tendulkar, Brain Lara, and Jonty Rhodes, among others, will participate in the Road Safety World Series in India during February 2-16, 2020. Being planned as an annual T20 tournament, this World Series will feature retired cricketers from five countries of Australia, India, South Africa, Sri Lanka, and West Indies. It will be played in various Indian cities.
Virender Sehwag, Brett Lee, Jacques Kallis, Muttiah Muralitharan, Tillakaratne Dilshan, etc will also be taking part. The objective of this series is to spread the message of road safety through cricketers. BCCI has issued a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) to promote this T20 tournament as an annual event titled Road Safety World Series.
Hindustan Times was quoted as saying that the league would be promoted by Swachh Bharat Surakshith Bharat, a trust working closely with Maharashtra’s RTO department, and would be conceptualized by the Professional Management Group (PMG). While Sachin Tendulkar will be the official brand ambassador of the tournament, Viacom 18 will be the broadcast partner. The digital partners will be Jio and Voot.
After Brian Lara became the second batsman to amass 11,000 runs in Test matches, Tendulkar broke his record by registering a world record of 15,921 runs in the same format, as he scored 51 centuries. In 2013, the Indian legend retired after scoring 100 centuries and compiling over 34,000 runs in international cricket.
