Once the blue-eyed boy of Indian cricket, now the forgotten superstar, S Sreesanth’s journey in the world of cricket has been nothing but controversial. The 37-year-old pacer, however, hasn’t lost any hopes as he is still dreaming to don the famous blue Indian jersey yet again in his life. S Sreesanth desires to feature in India’s squad for the 2023 World Cup, which is scheduled to be played in India. The 2011 World Cup winner cited his situation with the likes Leander Paes and Roger Federer as the speedster aspires to create “history” again.

“It is true that it is the kind of age when there is nothing much left to achieve in sports. But then, someone like Leander Paes won a grand slam at 42. Roger Federer is another case in point,” Sreesanth was quoted as saying in The Times of India. “As a fast bowler, I will be creating history but then, I like to create history. I am not just looking at the season ahead but at the next three years. My real goal is to be in the 2023 World Cup team and win the cup,” he stated.
S Sreesanth, who will turn 40 by the year 2023, looks motivated to represent team India in the next 50-50 World Cup. The pacer was a prominent name in the Indian team till 2013 when Sreesanth fell under the bus for match-fixing. In 2013, Sreesanth found himself in the middle of an Indian Premier League spot-fixing scandal that seemingly ended his cricketing career. Nevertheless, his suspension ended earlier this year in September as the pacer is optimistic to make a strong comeback in his long-gone bowling career.

Sreesanth looking forward to playing in Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy
No matter how unrealistic it may sound, Sreesanth’s dream to play for India can indeed become a reality. The 2007 T20I superstar has been handed an opportunity to play for Kerala in the upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy. The upcoming tournament can prove to be a grand platform for Sreesanth to showcase his mettle.
“Our first match will be at the Wankhede stadium where I had played my last India match, so life is coming full circle. Kerala has never won this tournament but we have a very good team now. I am excited to be part of this unit and also play under the guidance of coach Tinu Yohannan,” Sreesanth added.
