These days, the one common sight in headlines is players getting themselves injured during net practice sessions. In the same context, Team India got an injury scare when a ball hit the thumb of Rohit Sharma during a practice session.
This is not the first time that Rohit Sharma has got himself injured during a practice session before an important series. Rohit had missed his debut in Test matches when he twisted his ankle right before an important Test match. That incident took place when he was playing a rocket ball. But the story is different this time around.
Rohit got hit on his right thumb when he was practicing at the nets in Mumbai, reported India TV. This information has still not been confirmed officially but Physio Nitin Patel was assessing the situation.
Keeping in mind the Australia series, the fans would be hoping that Rohit is fine.
2019 Was A Successful Year For Rohit
For the ‘Hitman,’ the past year was highly successful. He ended 2019 in one-day internationals as the highest run-getter by getting past the Indian captain Virat Kohli.
Rohit scored 1490 runs in 2019 while maintaining an average of 57.03. For India, in Test matches, he had a successful run in the same year also while opening the innings.
On one hand, Kohli had 2689 ODI runs under his belt and Rohit scored 2633 runs in the shortest format of the sport. At that moment Rohit was very close to Kohli. For the T20 World Cup, people will expect to see him replicating his performances from 2019.
