Rishabh Pant was the undisputed hero of the Brisbane Test. The 23-year-old gloveman scored an unbeaten 89 runs in the second innings against Australia at Gabba, leading to India’s historic win in the ‘Border Gavaskar’ series. The youngster was hailed for his massive character as he carried his side in a crucial series. India jumped to the top spot of the World Test Championship’s points table and Pant had a huge hand to play in it. The Delhi Capitals’ wicketkeeper was applauded by many for his match-winning skills and was unsurprisingly compared with India’s great MS Dhoni.

MS Dhoni will go down as one of the best Indian captains of the modern era. The boy from Ranchi won everything there was to achieve as India’s captain. Leaving aside his incredible captaincy skills, MS Dhoni is reckoned as one of the best finishers of modern day cricket. Rishabh Pant has shown glimpses of MS Dhoni in the recent past and due to his recent exploits he is been constantly tipped to be next Dhoni of Indian cricket. It is seemingly a great honour for the young kid to be named in the same sentence with MS Dhoni.

While Pant is obliged to be compared with the legendary skipper, he is keen to make a name for himself. “You feel amazing when you are compared to someone like MS Dhoni and you compare me with him,” Pant told reporters after landing here from Australia where his match and series-winning effort of 89 in the second innings of the fourth Test won him all-round praise. “It’s amazing but I don’t want to be compared with anyone, I want to make myself as a name in Indian cricket, because it’s not good compare some legend with some youngster.”
