10-Wicket Loss Of India
New Zealand beat India with a 10-wicket win in the first Test match of India’s tour to New Zealand. The Kiwi bowlers were excellent with their bowling attack as they didn’t allow the India batsmen to score at least a 200 in any of their innings.
This huge loss of India brought shaking changes in the latest ICC Test rankings, and drop-down the ranks of the Indian batsmen and bowlers. The Indian team couldn’t handle the movement and swing produced by the top bowlers of New Zealand and managed to score only 165 and 191 runs in their two innings.
Poor Strategy Pull Down The Ranks
Meanwhile, some poor bowling line-up by the Indian bowlers and some ordinary captaincy by the skipper Virat Kohli allowed the Black Caps to get a clear path towards victory. As the last three wickets added more than 120 runs and led the team reach 348.
This huge score was enough for the Kiwis to hand-over India their first loss in the ICC World Test Championship. The fast-bowler of the Indian team, Jasprit Bumrah drop out of the top 10 ICC Test bowling Ranking as the pacer managed to take only one wicket in the Wellington match.
Ranks Drop-Down Of India Players
The Indian skipper Virat Kohli also faced the change, as he lost his no.1 spot in the ICC Test batting rankings. He scored only 2 and 19 runs in the two innings at Basin Reserve.
Kohli hasn’t scored a century in international cricket in the last 20 innings and that has affected his ranking points a lot. He has drop-down to the second spot with 906 points, while Steve Smith having 911 points, climbed to the top spot.
The only bowler from India who is in the top 10 bowling rankings is Ravichandran Ashwin. He is at the 9th spot with 765 points to his name. But a piece of good news for the Indian fans is that opener Mayank Agarwal has made his place in the top 10 with 727 points in Test batting rankings.
Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara are the other Indian batsmen in the top 10 rankings at no.8 and no.9 spot respectively.
