Kane Williamson friendly disposition, relaxed strokeplay, and clinical passion to complete the team’s favour appeal to the New Zealand captain to his fans the world over. Williamson’s prolific run-scoring and exemplary leadership skills have been the driving force behind New Zealand’s remarkable success.
Pragyan Ojha Names Kane Williamson As The Potential Replacement For MS Dhoni To Lead CSK
With speculation about IPL 2021 being MS Dhoni’s last ahead of Mega Auction next year, Pragyan Ojha has suggested the Chennai Super Kings look at New Zealand’s Kane Williamson as their prospective next skipper. Kane Williamson is one of the best batsmen in the world and one of the few who’s best in all 3 formats of the game.
A man just as calm as MS Dhoni, Kane Williamson has been in and out of his current side Sunrisers Hyderabad due to issues of squad balance. The next IPL season will host a mega-auction where teams will be allowed to retain only a limited number of players.
CSK franchise could look for someone as the future captain. Despite CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan having confirmed that Dhoni would lead the side in 2022, former India cricketer Pragyan Ojha feels the side could look at Kane Williamson not being utilised at SRH – as his successor. Ojha also suggested that Ravindra Jadeja could be the vice-captain despite his name being floated in the circles as Dhoni’s successor.
“He (Ravindra Jadeja) can be a vice-captain where if you need some help then can be your guy. But if you’re talking about captaincy, then if there’s one guy who can do it, it’s Kane Williamson. He isn’t being utilized much there (at SRH). Mega-auction is next year, if MS Dhoni is playing then this question shouldn’t arise in the first place. However, if he doesn’t play then you can bring in Kane Williamson as a captain,” said Ojha.
Last night, Chennai Super Kings dominated the win against Sunrisers Hyderabad after sheer class from CSK openers. CSK moves on top of the table after 5 consecutive wins, while Sunrisers Hyderabad is at the bottom of the table after winning only one match.
