Parthiv Patel is a well-prominent name in the Indian cricket world. He was the part of the World Cup team in 2003 when India qualified for the final. Also, he played a couple of Test matches before getting retirement from both Tests as well as ODIs and then replaced by former India captain MS Dhoni. After that Dhoni became the skipper of the team.
Parthiv Patel was playing in domestic cricket and scored runs despite not selected for the national side. His cricket hunger helped him to make a strong comeback on South Africa tour in 2018 in Johannesburg Test. Many people praised for his effort but very few people also aware of the fact that Parthiv has only nine fingers. Yes, the mini dynamo doesn’t have the left hand’s baby finger.
Remembering the incident, Parthiv said that he was only six years when the incident happened. His left hand’s baby finger had stocked in the door and it got cut. Also, he revealed that with nine fingers, it is very difficult to be a wicket-keeper as his baby finger didn’t fit in the gloves. During an Instagram Live session, he said that “ My left hand’s baby finger came in the door when I was six years old and it got cut.”

But Parthiv Patel mentioned that he wore the glove with 9 fingers so that it stays jointed and doesn’t face any complications while playing. The wicket-keeper left-hander batsman is very much proud that he has got chance to represent India as a wicketkeeper with nine fingers at the highest level.
“ It is tough in a way since the baby finger doesn’t fit in the gloves. So I tape the glove down the gloves so that all the fingers stay jointed. I don’t know how the things would have been in case I had all the ten fingers but when I looked back, it feels really fantastic to represent my own country with nine fingers as a wicketkeeper.” he added.
