Australia were relentless in the first Test as they inflicted an embarassing loss over the mighty Indians at Adelaide. With skipper Virat Kohli returning home and senior pacer Mohammed Shami injured, a depleted Indian side led by Ajinkya Rahane thumped Aussies in the second Test on Tuesday. Few were giving Team India a chance to stage a comeback in the ongoing Test series against Australia after the visitors faced a crushing 8-wicket defeat in the first Test in Adelaide.

The right-arm off-break bowler Ravi Ashwin played a vital role in India’s victory at MCG as he managed to rattle the opposition batsmen across both the innings. Ashwin ended up with 5 wickets in the second game. He picked the wickets of Steve Smith, Matthew Wade, and skipper Tim Paine in the first innings while in the second innings he sent Marnus Labuschagne and Josh Hazlewood back to the pavilion.
Debutants Shubman Gill and Mohammed Siraj along with the likes of Ravindra Jadeja, Jasprit Bumrah, and R Ashwin played instrumental roles in India’s historic triumph. Ravi Shastri told this will go down in books as one of the greatest comebacks of all time for India.

Prithi Ashwin Reveals The Reaction Of Ravi Ashwin After India’s Comeback Winning The Melbourne Test
Ashwin’s wife Prithi Ashwin took to Twitter to react to India’s 8-wicket win and said she has not seen the spinner as happy as he was after India bounced back to win the second Test and level the series in Melbourne.
The wife of 34-year-old, Prithi Ashwin congratulated the Men in Blue for a classic victory against Australia at MCG. Prithi also revealed how she has never seen Ashwin as ecstatic as he was after winning the Boxing Day Test.
“I have seen/ spoken to Ashwin after every Test he has played and after a lot of wins. But I have never seen him this happy, satisfied, and light (can I say?) with a smile in his eyes in almost 10 years.”
Despite the win in Melbourne, the Indian team are again expected to make some changes in their squad ahead of the third Test to accommodate opening batsman Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul to be in the middle order. The two teams will next face off in the third Test beginning on January 7 at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
