NADA has joined hands with UAE and will send teams to five venues:
National Anti-Doping Agency of India (NADA) has collaborated with the UAE and will send teams to three IPL match venues and two training centers, with the planning of organizing nearly 50 random tests during the league. It is for the first time when NADA will take the responsibility to conduct the tests during the tournament after the Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) came under its ambit in the year 2019; in last years the BCCI has held the tests.
Navin Agarwal Statement:
The director-general of NADA, Navin Agarwal told to media “It is for the first time that dope tests will be organized in the IPL by NADA. We have been taking tests of players ever since the Indian Cricket Board, BCCI came under the jurisdiction of NADA last year.”
He added “Previously, we were planning to hold IPL in April in India. But because of the situation, we had to shist to the UAE. So, we have to conduct the tests there only.”
Furthermore, “The dope testing will be randomized and will be conducted during both in competition and out of the competition. We will take care of the arrangement to carry the kits or sourcing the kits in Dubai. We have consulted with the anti-doping agency of the UAE for this purpose.”
NADA will send nine persons, six dope-control officers (DCOs), and three officials. These 9 persons will form three groups in the UAE. Each person of the three groups is expected to be supported by local chaperones, who will help in sample collection of blood and urine. The dope testing centers will be set up in three-match venues, one in Abu Dhabi, one in Dubai, and one in Sharjah along with training centers in Abu Dhabi and in Dubai.
