Mohammad Hafez was brought-in as Fad du Plessis’ replacement in the Colombo Kings squad. Pakistan and NZ will play three test games between December 18 to December 22. As reported by CricketPakistan, Hafeez made a special request to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to allow him to play a couple of LPL games before Pakistan’s tour of New Zealand. PCB, however, denied Hafeez’s request and asked him to make his decision and Mohammad Hafeez decided to drop the Lankan Premier League.
However, choosing Pakistan over LPL didn’t come cheap for the all-rounder. As reported by CricketPakistan, Mohammad Hafeez was apparently set to earn around PKR 10 Million for representing Colombo Kings in LPL 2020. 10 Million is a huge amount for a player like Mohammad Hafeez who is approaching his retirement.

Mohammad Hafeez has time and again chosen his country over money. Earlier this year, Hafeez denied a contract worth PKR 2.5 Million from Caribbean Premier League (CPL 2020) to join Pakistan in their England tour. As Mohammad Hafeez comes under Category C in Pakistan’s player’s contract list, the veteran cricketer only earned around PKR 202,950 from the England tour. Fans of Pakistan cricket will seemingly be proud of Mohammad Hafeez’s dedication and his decision to keep his country ahead of everything.
