TSK vs WAF – Forgotten names
#1 Rusty Theron
He was one of the most sought-after T20 bowlers in the early days of the format. Rusty Theron had a fantastic Yorker that very few batsmen had an answer to. He was a quality death bowler who was primarily used during this phase. Theron was one of the earlier T20 skilled specialists who later opened the avenue for others. He briefly represented South Africa but soon went into the wilderness. Playing for the Texas Super Kings, he will have another chance to show his worth to a wider audience.
#2 Saurabh Netravalkar
His story is pretty similar to that of Unmukt Chand. Both represented India at the U-19 level. Saurabh Netravalkar played for the India U-19 in the 2010 World Cup. He played alongside KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, and Jaydev Unadkat, all of whom have played for the senior Indian team. But he couldn’t quite make the cut.
He played for Mumbai in First-class cricket picking 75 wickets. Netravalkar switched to the USA in search of better opportunities. He is now a regular member of the USA cricket team. The left-arm spinner will be itching to put in a performance of note to repay the faith.
TSK vs WAF – Players to watch out for
#1 Mitchell Santner
He is one of the finest orthodox spinners in the white-ball format. Mitchell Santner is a grossly underrated T20 player. He is cut of the same cloth as Ravindra Jadeja but just not flamboyant as him. Santner bowls defensive lengths to contain batsmen. As soon as he finds an opening he moves to pick wickets. Santner has spun a web around many batsmen in the world. He will be a difficult bowler to contend on the surfaces of the UAE. Santner may well prove to be TSK’s biggest trump card in the MLC.
#2 Ben Dwarshuis
He is an all-rounder who is on the verge of breaking into the Australian T20 side. Ben Dwarshuis is a left-handed batsman and a left-arm fast-medium pacer. He has made handy contributions with the bat in domestic cricket though his primary skill is his bowling. Dwarshuis has picked 132 wickets in T20Is at an average of 24.02. A breakthrough season in MLC 2023 will open up doors for national selection. He will be eager to make this season count.
TSK vs WAF – Match prediction
On paper, the Texas Super Kings appear to be a formidable unit compared to Washington Freedom. But T20 is a funny game and the WAF team will bank on the game’s unpredictable nature to get one past TSK.
