Los Angeles Knight Riders vs San Francisco Unicorns Match Preview
The Los Angeles Knight Riders didn’t have the greatest of starts to their campaign. They lost to the Texas Super Kings quite convincingly. LAKR will look to get their act together when they come up against the San Francisco Unicorns in match number 8 on July 18.
SFU will be looking to build upon their win in the opening game against MINY. They surprised everyone when they managed to defeat the much-fancied MINY in their first match. A win here will establish them as one of the sides to be wary of quite early in the league.

#1 Lockie Ferguson
The fast bowler from New Zealand had a forgettable IPL 2023 after setting the stage on fire in IPL 2022. Lockie Ferguson left much to be desired playing for KKR this year. But the speedster found his rhythm in the very first game of the MLC 2023. He returned with figures of 2-23 in his four overs. In a game that saw the opposition score over 9, Ferguson was the only bowler who conceded less than 6 runs per over.
#2 Andre Russell
The big-hitting Jamaican all-rounder had a terrific game with the bat. Andre Russell walked into bat when LAKR was in the doldrums at 20-4. They could have sliced to a colossal win if not for Russell’s pyrotechnics. He hit 55 runs off just 34 balls depositing 3 sixes and smashing 7 fours. Russell’s knock gave the total some respectability. There were many detractors of Russell after a middling IPL, but he will look to silence them through this tournament.
#3 Corey Anderson
He was one of the most promising all-rounders from New Zealand in the last decade. Corey Anderson was a popular name in IPL circles too. His contribution to taking MI to the playoffs in 2014 isn’t lost on anyone even now. Anderson showed glimpses of the same spark in the opening game. He hit a belligerent 91 off just 52 balls comprising 7 sixes and 4 fours. It was his innings that propelled the score over 200 for SFU.
#4 Shadab Khan
In the opening game against MINY, Shadab Khan proved why he is one of the finest going around in international cricket. Walking in at a stage that required him to go hammer and tongs, Shadab Khan smashed 61 runs off just 30 balls. He dispatched 4 deliveries to the boundary fence and hit 5 above them. Khan’s partnership of 129 with Anderson in just 57 balls was purely sensational!
LAKR vs SFU Players to watch out for
#1 Rilee Rossouw
He is one of the most accomplished names at number 3 in T20 cricket. Rilee Rossouw came to the party for Delhi in IPL 2023 a tad bit too late. He is a difficult batsman to bowl to when in full flow. Rossouw smashed a century against India making people take notice of his potential. He didn’t have a great first game but expect him to strike big for LAKR.
#2 Haris Rauf
He is deceptively quick. Haris Rauf is one of the fastest bowlers in world cricket currently. He has a bag full of variations but bowling at pace is his biggest strength. Rauf is very difficult to get away when he bowls those hard lengths at top speeds. He went wicketless in the first game but he will continue to be a trump card for SFU in this competition.

The tournament is getting exciting with every passing game. In the third round, it will be imperative for teams to notch up points quickly before the passage becomes tricky. LAKR will back themselves to come good against SFU. The Unicorns though will be quietly confident to rake up another couple of points in the league.
