Mumbai Indians vs Sunrisers Hyderabad Key Player Battles Preview:
MI vs SRH Key Player Battles: It is a clash involving two former IPL champions. The five-time IPL champion, Mumbai Indians is already out of the playoffs race. Sunrisers Hyderabad, the 2016 champions have had a mixed season so far. Their chances of qualifying for the playoffs too are wearing thin. The key players from both sides will be locked in an engaging contest.
We look at the MI vs SRH Key Player Battles:
#1 Ishan Kishan vs Bhuvneshwar Kumar
Mumbai Indians showed a lot of faith in Ishan Kishan this year. He was their costliest acquisition in the mega auction. Kishan’s free-flowing game was the reason why MI rated him so highly. But the pressure of the price tag seemed to have bogged Kishan down. He has been hesitant in his stroke play.
Kishan will be eager to change his season around with a couple of impactful knocks. He will be up against veteran, Bhuvneshwar Kumar. The SRH pacer has been brilliant this season. He will test Kishan with the new ball.
#2 Tilak Varma vs Umran Malik
It will be a battle between two promising uncapped players. Tilak Varma is Mumbai Indians’ highest run-scorer this season so far. He has looked at ease against both pace and spin. Varma has smashed 368 runs in 12 games at a fantastic average of 40.89. Rohit Sharma, the MI captain has predicted that Varma soon will be an all-format player for the country. It is the praise of the highest order.
He will be looking to cap off the season in style. Varma will be up against another fiery customer, Umran Malik. The thunderbolts pacer will test Varma. It will be a battle between two future stars who have lit up the current IPL.
#3 Rahul Tripathi vs Daniel Sams
SRH’s losing streak in the past few games has been largely due to its inefficient top-order. Kane Williamson’s poor form notwithstanding, Rahul Tripathi too has disappointed. Apart from a couple of important knocks, he has largely remained ineffectual. Tripathi will be itching to get going against Mumbai. He will be facing the music of Daniel Sams. The left-arm seamer has delivered telling blows in the last few games. This matchup will be interesting!
#4 Aiden Markram vs Jasprit Bumrah
The premier all-format bowler, Jasprit Bumrah roared back into form in the game against KKR. His five for 10 in four overs is one of the tournament’s highlights. It was a breathtaking spell of fast bowling. Bumrah will be raring to go against arguably SRH’s best batsman, Aiden Markram. The SRH middle-order batsman has been all class this season. He seems unperturbed playing both pace and spin. Markram needs to bring his A-game to the table to counter the Bumrah threat.
