We will be witnessing some quality cricket in the next few months with the 2nd phase of IPL 2021 followed up by T20 World Cup and post that BBL 2021-22 will go underway from 5th December.
And recently there were few player transfers that happened in BBL and one of the main and highlighted transfers was Joe Burns. He has signed up a three-year deal with Melbourne Stars after a long 9-years with Brisbane Heat.
“It was obviously a difficult decision leaving the Heat after being there for so long, however, I am ready for a new challenge at the Stars,” Burns said.
“The Melbourne Stars have been a very strong team over the years and I’m excited to join the team and I can’t wait to get stuck into training with my new teammates.”
We are excited to welcome Joe to our squad for the next three seasons: BBL 2021-22
Joe Burns scored a stunning 1192 runs with the strike rate of 123.52 in his 59 BBL matches. Burns had a rough BBL last year where he was not up to his mark. Brisbane has finally broken their ties after a long 9-seasons and Melbourne Stars has taken advantage to bring in an experienced player.
Also, he has shown all the signs of being a finisher and that’s one segment where the stars are eyeing this season. Stars have been in the finals 3 times but have always been the second-best team.
Melbourne Coach David Hussey is happy with the addition of Joe Burns as he’ll bring experience and depth to the batting lineup. “We are excited to welcome Joe to our squad for the next three seasons, especially given the experience and batting depth he adds to the squad,” Hussey said.
Melbourne Stars has announced their updated 12 man squad as of now:
Joe Burns, Hilton Cartwright, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Seb Gotch, Liam Hatcher, Clint Hinchliffe, Nick Larkin, Glenn Maxwell(c), Tom O’Connell, Billy Stanlake, Marcus Stoinis, Adam Zampa
