The eight consecutive victory of Melbourne Stars
Melbourne Stars won their eighth consecutive game in the Big Bash League. The team won by 10 runs against Perth Scorchers in their home ground at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Hard work by the team held Scorchers to 131 with Cameron Bancroft scoring 32.
Getting the team back into the match
After winning the toss and choosing to bat, Stars soon slid down to 34 for 3. Cartwright and Glenn Maxwell scored 47 till the fourth wicket to bring the match back on track for their side.
Nick Larkin brought to the middle after Maxwell’s wicket made a quickfire 24 off 18 balls. It gave their team a delayed boost. Matthew Kelly captured three wickets to keep things calm. Jhye Richardson and Fawad Ahmed contributed by taking one wicket each.
Regular wickets of the Scorchers’ during the chase made them collapse from 46 runs for 1 at one point to 102 for 5. There was no late development either as the host team maintained control throughout the match.
The key role of Cartwright for Melbourne Stars
Hilton Cartwright hit an unbeaten half-century. By scoring 58 runs from 56 balls and taking the hosts to 141 for 6, Cartwright played a major role in the team with his batting skills. His innings as an opener included seven fours. Stars were struggling at 34 in 3 when Maddinson was dismissed. But Cartwright tried to rescue the team by scoring 58.

Glenn Maxwells’s decision to try Maddinson paid. Cameron Bancroft scored 32 but later was dismissed by Maddinson. The player tried for a drive from a low full toss, but Maddinson took an incredible catch. He also took the wickets of Tim David and Matthew Kelly stumping them.
