Legendary Indian pacer Ishant Sharma is going to make his 100th Test appearance for India when they will be up against England for the pink-ball Test. On the eve of his 100th Test appearance, Ishant Sharma was interviewed by premier Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin. During the conversation, Ishant Sharma revealed what former Indian skipper MS Dhoni said to him before calling it quits from Test cricket in 2014. Here we go Ishant Sharma recalls Dhoni.

MS Dhoni was the game-changer for India during their Boxing Day Test against Australia in 2014. The legendary wicketkeeper saved the Test for India and later went on to announce his retirement from the red-ball format. Ishant Sharma has now opened up about his last conversation with MS Dhoni as India’s Test captain.
Ishant Sharma stated that he was experiencing a tremendous amount of pain during the Melbourne Test in 2014. Due to this, he ended up taking several injections throughout the Test match to cope up with the pain in his knee. Ishant Sharma added that no one in the Indian squad had any idea about Dhoni’s retirement plan during the Down Under Test.

“I felt very bad (on MS Dhoni’s retirement). I had taken many injections for that Melbourne Test match because I was experiencing severe pain in my knee. I did not know that Mahi bhai (Mahendra Singh Dhoni) was going to retire. In fact, nobody knew that he was going to retire. So I was taking an injection every session,” Ishant said.
